El Porompompero (Spain)
This is a Flamenco Rumba. The chord progression is simple. I’ll try to have some melodic notation by meeting time tonight.
This is the refrain (C is Do): ||: LA minor SOL FA MI :||
The verses are even more simple: LA minor MI LA minor SOL FA MI
Here is a version with the lyrics.
Here is a Youtube video of the song performed in a basic way by a singer.
For guitarists, here are the tabs Version 1 with a video | Version 2. Don’t worry about the slow part at the beginning unless you’re wanting to solo on that and you are one of the guitarists. Here is another video of a guitarist teaching it.
Especially for guitarists, here is a tutorial video on how to do Flamenco strumming for the Flamenco Rumba. It’s in Spanish but it should be pretty clear to you. Here’s one more with a less strict teacher.
And here’s an example of a Flamenco Rumba being danced and just happening at a normal gathering of family and friends in Spain. Here’s another, not a Rumba but it’s another type of Flamenco genre called Bulerías–these are just kids in the street, Gitanas (the word for Spanish Gypsy girls).
